We were asked to find something that could inspire us to do a make-up and so I did that.

I’ve made this painting once and I really liked the colors, the shape of the black line and the delicate look of the butterfly, so I made this makeup.

I started by cleansing her face and moisturizing it. Then I made the foundation and covered the red areas and spots she had in her face with a concealer. With the eyeshadow, I started with a pink color at the inner corner of the eye end worked my way over the eye, with a ligth blue in the middle and a purple at the outer corner of the eye.

I gave her a black liner close to the lashes and made it longer than the eye to drag the eye up. Under her eye I placed a green color and some light purple to get a glimpse of the butterfly shape without doing it too much. I gave her a brown/red rouge on and a glimmering kind of lip-gloss, but in a way so that the eyes still were the main focus.

I think it turned out great.

I thought that I would give you some tips about how you can create different kinds of blush.

If you are looking for a fresh and young look, you can use a pink color. While you are looking in the mirror, give yourself a smile, and your cheeks will have the form of small round apples, let’s call it the “applecheek”. With your brush, you put the blush in the middle of the applecheek, by using your brush in circles. You should be careful though, because if you use too much blush, if the color you use is too strong or if the spot of blush is too round, then you will basically look more like a clown – so try to make a smooth transition. This blush is a blush that you can, e.g. use in day time. Specifically because of it’s fresh look.

There is also an alternative for the summer period. You can put a little bit of gold or golden tinsel, and lay it on the upper part of the cheekbone. You can find your cheekbone by sucking in your cheeks and sharpening your lips. Feel your face with your hands, and locate the bones. When you have found your cheekbones you put the blush on the upper part of them, lining the cheekbones. If you are putting the gold on, be careful not to put it too low, because then your are getting a whole other look.

The look you give yourself by laying the blush too low, is the kind of look you have in the evening. If you e.g. are going to a dinner party, you should use a dark brown color to highlight your cheekbones because that makes your face look beautiful in a fine dress. You find your cheekbones with the same technique as before, and with your brush, you put the dark blush at the edge of the cheekbone. You put it all the way from your hairline to the middle of your cheek, just below the middle of your eye. But be careful that you’re not making the line too thick or too thin, that you’re not using to much color and that you are not laying it to low because that will weigh down your face.

These are some examples for blush. Depending of what kind of shape your face has, you can use the blush to counteract or tone down the shape of your head, if you have a very round or very long shaped head, the blush can make your face seem more balanced, but I will tell you about that some other time.

So I thought that I might try it out and then write a review for everyone to read. However I didn’t have a blog at that time, so therefore I would like to give you a review of the mascara now.

Before I tried it out I was a little skeptical towards the brush because it was in a elastic kind of rubber material. I was afraid that it would not take a prober grip to the eyelash and therefore not leave a prober amount of mascara on the lash. But when I tried it I was surprised in a positive way. It wasn’t so hard to use as I had expected. The elastic brush is just following the lashes very tight and leaves mascara perfectly to the tip of each lash. The mascara does exactly as they promise in the commercials and I am quite happy, so happy that I’ve bought several since. The price is pretty normal, maybe in the highest part of middle price, but I would say that it is worth the money.

I give the Maybelline Define-a-lash Mascara:
